The first in-depth open-hearted interview! BABYMONSTER , the hot girl group from YG with 7 members: Ruka, Pharita, Asa, Ahyeon, Rami, Rora, and Chiquita, talk about the challenges they faced while they were trainees, what they did when they came from far away from home, who is the best at shopping, and what is Baby Monster’s biggest dream on the show WOODY EXCLUSIVE.
I must say that BABYMONSTER is currently very popular in many countries. How do you feel about that?
Chiquita (Chiquita): I feel very honored and thank you very much to everyone who loves us for who we are.
When did you know people started to get interested and follow you?
Chiquita (Chiquita) : When we went to the fan meeting, there were a lot of fans there, so we felt like, “Do we really have that many fans?”
In the group, what language do we mostly speak?
Pharita (Pharita): I mostly use Korean. Actually, I also teach Japanese and Thai to my friends.
Who has studied Thai?
Asa (Asa): Very beautiful, very cool.
Ruka (Ruka): Brother Woody did a great job.
Rami (Rami): Oh, Mom, you bark a lot. And no one loves me. Even the fan shakes its head.
Rora (Rola): So delicious, I’m hungry, crab curry powder. I like it because when we first came to Thailand together, we ate it together and it was really delicious.
Ahyeon (Ahyeon): So cute.
Who is the best at talking?
Rora (Rola) : Whenever I have to do something like an interview or when I have to explain or introduce a song, I usually get that job. The reason I was chosen is probably this reason.
Who is the best at shopping?
Asa (อาซะ): Actually, I often go shopping with Pharita. We choose things together and we go there very often. I like clothes, so I like shopping. I mostly buy clothes, accessories and bags.
Pharita (Pharita): It’s similar because we go shopping together and we like to get this one or that one, so we buy both (laughs).
What time have you ever practiced until late?
Pharita (Pharita): Morning. It was like we had to debut and we had to come out really well. So we practiced until we didn’t look at the time, so we went out and the sun had already risen.
Who dances the best?
Ruka (Ruka): Yes, I started when I was 6 years old. I could remember the dance moves by watching videos.
If we are trainees and have been away from home for a long time, we will definitely have times when we feel homesick. What are some ways we can deal with loneliness?
Asa (Asa): I talk on the phone with my mom and dad, and with the members who live in the same dorm anyway. When we’re together, it helps relieve my loneliness and homesickness.
How many years have you been together?
Asa (Asa): 5 – 6 years old
What do you do when you are tired and discouraged?
Pharita (Pharita): Actually, when I have something stressful, I can talk to the members because they have different ideas. And sometimes when I feel discouraged, we can talk and help each other. Or I can call my mother.
Being a member, everyone knows that you have to practice and prepare. What is the most challenging thing about being a member of the group?
Rami: If I had to say what was the challenge, I would say it was more than a challenge. Everyone comes from different countries. Over time, I think it’s pretty amazing that the seven of us have come together like this, and because we’ve always helped each other, I think the one thing that’s more than a challenge is that there’s something good that’s happened.
What was the most challenging thing as a member of the band and how did you overcome it?
Rora: Since we just debuted and are still new artists, we don’t have much experience. For example, skills on stage, sometimes there are new things for us to learn for the first time. So if we learn something, we tell each other that it would be good to do it this way. After the show, we check in and watch the monitor together. It’s like something that makes us grow, which is a challenge for me.
How did you feel when you performed in front of everyone?
Ruka: At that time, it was our first time debuting and appearing on a music show. We were really excited to perform in front of our fans for the first time, but after the performance, we felt… we did it.
For BABYMONSTER, what is the future? What is BABYMONSTER’s dream?
Pharita (Pharita): Baby Monster also has very big dreams. Actually, right now we want everyone in the world to listen to our songs a lot. We want people who listen to our songs to receive good energy, feel happy, and grow with us.
The FAN MEETING has ended. Is there anything you want to say to your fans all over the world?
Rami (Rami) : We traveled to many countries to hold fan meetings, and we didn’t expect that so many people would come. We feel very happy and grateful to receive so much love. From now on, BABYMONSTER will show more sides of us and continue to develop ourselves.
Pharita (Pharita): I want you to follow us for a long time. Right now, I feel everyone’s love. Thank you for your support all along. In the future, we will continue to fight.
Rora (Rola): We would like to thank our fans who have loved and waited for us so much. We will continue to improve ourselves to repay your love and wait.
Ahyeon : It was a great opportunity for us to hold fan meetings in many countries. We were able to learn and respect various cultures. I feel like I have received a lot of love recently, but I think we still can’t repay the love that everyone has given us enough. So we will try harder, practice hard, and continue to develop ourselves as BABYMONSTER. Thank you.
Ruka (Ruka): At this fan meeting, we talked with fans from many countries. It was great to meet all of you and our fans. We will continue to work hard to repay everyone’s love. Thank you.
Chiquita (Chiquita): I would like to thank all the fans who have supported us all along, and have always loved us and cheered us on. When I went to the fan meeting, I didn’t think there would be this many people, so I was shocked and very happy. In the future, I want you to always be by our side.
Asa (Asa): Thank you very much to the fans who always love and support us. Coming to Thailand this time will be very special because we have Parita and Chikita who are Thais in the group, so we get along well. From now on, we will try our best to become BABYMONSTERs who grow and develop continuously. We love everyone. Love you.
