Handsome and talented actor “Mario Maurer” opened up on the WOODY FM program about his love and devotion to his mother. In his life, his mother is his safe zone and a source of positive energy. He admitted that in the past, he had made his mother so upset that she could not sleep. Now, he is a slave to cats named Nong Jiw and Nong Jaew.
I heard that someone is now a cat slave?
Mario: Oh, right. There was a cat that came to give birth in the house. It gave birth to 3 kittens. We didn’t love cats that much, but after a while, they became cute. There were many of them. Actually, I love dogs, love fish, and don’t like cats because I’m afraid of them scratching. After giving birth to 3 kittens at home, one of them died. As for the mother, she left her kittens and went. So we decided to pick them up and take them to the hospital. Now, we’re raising 2 kittens. Their names are Jiw and Jaew. We thought they were males for 1 year, but they were actually females (laughs). At first, I was looking for eggs but couldn’t find them. They were both females. My job was to scoop their poop and play with them every day so they wouldn’t be lonely. They’re very affectionate. If Oh walks to their cage, they’ll rub against each other so we can pet them. But the cage is quite wide. When I’m free, I’ll take them out for a walk outside.
No matter what problems Mario faces, he always turns them into something positive. How did you find this lifestyle? How does it make your life easier?
Mario: I think the role model for positive thinking is my mother. Because since childhood, no matter how difficult things we encounter or how tiring work we are, when we meet our mother or when she says a few words to us, we feel that we have the power to think positively in a good way.
Are there things in your life that seem negative but can be turned into positives?
Mario: Many things. Sometimes we work a lot and feel so tired. Why do we have to work so much? Sometimes my mom would simply say, “If you’re tired, go rest, and try again tomorrow.” But those are words that give us a lot of positive energy. Because I feel that even though my mom has been working all the time and is tired, she still gets up and goes to work happily. And the positive energy that comes from her is transmitted to us. Whenever something bad happens to us, my mom would say that in life, there will be days when we fall down, but it’s up to us whether we get up and keep going or not.
Oh, you’ve always told me that you love your mother very much. Have you ever done anything to upset your mother in the past, and you might still feel guilty about it?
Mario: Yes, sometimes my mom just warns me, don’t do this, son. We should take care of ourselves or something like that. Sometimes we work hard or frequently and then we feel like why does my mom have to say things like that? We feel irritated by what my mom warns us about. And sometimes we make a mistake and go to work late. My mom will say, “Why can’t you do that? Oh, my work is waiting for me.” Some days we might really make a mistake, my phone doesn’t wake me up or something like that. Then my mom will scold me. I feel irritated and sometimes I argue with my mom or use words without thinking, saying things like, “I’m like this too.” I feel hurt. I don’t say anything when I talk, but when my mom hangs up, I feel like, “Why did I talk to you like that?” My mom never thinks bad about me. All she thinks about me is that she wants me to be better. But why don’t I listen to her when she warns me? I argue with her emotionally. I can’t sleep and feel like I’m such a bad child. So I call her back. “Mom, I’m sorry!” “Oh, you didn’t talk to me well.” My mom will be so nice and say, “It’s okay, son. Let it go.” Oh my! I feel like it’s gone, Woody. My mom is amazing. I’m so lucky to have such a great mom.
Apologizing to your elder brother is the best thing to do because we don’t know when the farewell will happen?
Mario: I always think about it because I lost my father. I felt that I had no one but my mother. So I felt that if one day I spoke to my mother badly, for me, my energy in life would decrease. My mother is my true positive thinking. She is my safe zone. Sometimes I call her just to hear her voice. Where is my mother? She would ask quickly. My mother is very fast. And where did you work today? I don’t even know where I work (laughs). When my mother scolds me, I am happy. She scolds me and today I can work. My mother will have positive thinking that doesn’t come in a soft way. She will yell a little bit. That’s my mother (smiles).
